Many old diagnose programs like CheckIt looks for the copyright string and version to detect the BIOS vendor.
It would be very cool, if it could be added.
While absolutely cosmetic, we love our retro systems and it would give overall better retro experience

That would be super cool yeah (believe me I've noticed it too). My understanding is (unfortunately) those detection heuristics were baked into those programs (Check-it specifically) of the time so they'd look for some list of then-known BIOSes (maybe IBM, Phoenix, AMI, etc) and if there's no match it'd just be "standard". So without a patched version it's just not gonna match one.

Like you said others do try to search the BIOS for the word "Copyright" but can often find it first in another ROM (like XT universal BIOS if you have that installed).

If there's something we could do to make it appear in some programs I'd be open to it, if you have any ideas?
