Since the ezsp driver in zigbee2mqtt is deprecated, to use Xiaomi Multimode Gateway 2 with the latest z2m versions, you need to update the zigbee firmware to 7.4+, this is necessary to use the ember driver. The stock version is 6.6. By following the instruction in my repository, you can update the zigbee firmware to 8.0.2. This repository contain scripts for flashing gateway to stock/custom zigbee firmware. I tested firmware with z2m, works like a charm.
Recent versions of custom zigbee firmware for Xiaomi Multimode Gateway 2 now you can find in darkxst/silabs-firmware-builder repository.
