Camera stops working after a ´some changes in the settings

after a second new installation of the whole system I've got the second time this error message, after the camera was working.

Make sure cable between camera and Pi is all the way in.   (August 07, 12:24:23 pm CEST)

any suggestions whats going wrong?

Just to be clear, you reinstalled Bullseye from scratch? Did the camera ever work after you did that? It sounds like the camera worked prior to the Bullseye reinstall, is that correct?

Sometimes removing the cable and reinstalling it helps, believe it or not.

Do you have either another camera or another Pi you can try?

Please try running libcamera-hello. It may give you additional information. If libcamera-hello works, try running it a bunch of times:

while true
do
    libcamera-hello
done

This will run libcamera forever until you kill it with a CTRL-C or CTRL-X (I forget which one).

If that works, then perhaps it IS an unknown problem with Allsky, so do this:

sudo systemctl stop allsky
sudo truncate -s 0 /var/log/allsky.log
# set the Debug Level in the WebUI to 4 and "Save changes"

If you get the "4 consecutive errors" message, then ATTACH (do not copy/paste) /var/log/allsky.log and I'll take a look next week when I'm back from vacation.

I think I've got it.

I have changed the image width and heigth by dividing the maximum pixels by 1,5.
After changing that to 0 and restarting Allsky it is running.

I have this same issue - same camera, same problem. The images are all taken and stored and look fine, but I get the same error message and no time lapse is made.

@pmccudden Your problem doesn't appear to be the same as @sponka2002's. In that case, the "4 consecutive errors" stops Allsky so no pictures are taken or stored.

If I understand you correctly, you are getting images but no timelapse. If that's correct, see the Troubleshooting page on Timelapse. It helps almost everyone. If it helps in your case, let me know exactly what fixed it.
Did you run scripts/check_allsky.sh? It will warn you if you're likely to have a problem with timelapses.

@pmccudden, please attach /tmp/capture_RPi_debug.txt if it's there. It should give an indication of why libcamera-still is failing.

Tomorrow morning when it stops due to errors, please attach that capture_RPi_debug.txt file BEFORE you restart allsky. It should contain the error message from the last unsuccessful attempt.

@TerminalMeltdown, are you sure that's why you're getting "consecutive errors" ? Those messages only appear when Allsky is unable to take a picture which has nothing to do with Allsky Website URLs.
The Allsky Website requires the Image URL to be under the Website URL. This is to keep people from linking to a non-Allsky site and calling it an Allsky Website. When other users see a link to an Allsky Website (on the map, for example), they expect to see an Allsky Website, not YouTube or some other site.

Are you running the newest Allsky release, v2024.12.06? If not, please upgrade. It has many fixes and improved debugging.
