Quick summary

Using Blank Canvas theme, if you set the homepage to set the latest posts, the homepage shows only latest post and not all posts. Changing the number of posts to be displayed in settings doesn't help either. Switching to another theme displays all posts on the homepage.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Activate Blank Canvas theme on a WordPress.com website. Make sure the website has at least 2 posts published or more.
  2. Go to Customiser and set the homepage to show the latest posts.
  3. Preview or visit the site's homepage.

What you expected to happen

The homepage should have shown all the published posts.

What actually happened

The homepage showed only the lastest post and not all published posts.

Workaround details

Switching to another theme helps. Also, creating a new static page with Blog Posts block and setting it as homepage works.

Thank you for reporting this @mriyazuddin I noticed there is no query loop block present on the Home template:

Adding one does help and renders the other posts correctly. Could you please give this a try?

Hey @Robertght that indeed worked in the editor. However, when I looked at the front-end, there's no change. It still shows the latest post alone.

Doing a quick recap of what I chatted with @mriyazuddin:

  • The Make a title link isn't turned on by default:
    image

Is this expected?

  • Somehow the Query block isn't present in the Home template so somehow only the latest post is being displayed.

How much of this behavior of influenced by the theme itself?

This is quite an old issue, and I couldn't replicate it anymore - closing.
