Hi,

on my first use of the app, I was very confused by the way it worked. I couldn't see any bugs in my area, and even the reloading button didn't help. I went to the preferences, made sure to enable all bugs from osmose, keepright and mapdust, at all levels, but still didn't work, even on an area where I knew I would get a lot of osmose issues. I gave up until I tried again today and found that there was a layer button (which I thought was to change the background map tiles) that actually had everything disable except map notes. This was very confusing: I was expecting to get all the issues when selecting all of them.

I think adding some hint in the preferences would help new users, like adding a small gray text under the "Enabled Errors" choices saying something like "not shown until you select the layer on the map".

I think recent versions of OSMbugs show OSM Notes by default (but you still need to enable osmose/keepright manually if you want them too). That seems like a reasonable default, as osmose/keepright are often "too chatty" (although, counterargument might be that the sole purpose of OSMbugs is to show bugs, so it should do that maximally by default)

I think adding some hint in the preferences would help new users, like adding a small gray text under the "Enabled Errors" choices saying something like "not shown until you select the layer on the map".

yes, I agree something like that should help new users
