GIMP can't add picture from phone storage or anywhere

Hello I have recently tried editing an image I downloaded from my email into several different locations within my phone, and that picture or anypicture format for that matters appears when I try adding a Pic. Help

I'll add to this since I've also had this problem. When trying to open an image to edit, some folders like the DCIM folder are visible, but no actual files are shown. This is quite a big issue since the app is basically useless without it. Some system specs:

• OS: Android 14
• Android security patch date: 05-06-2024
• Phone: Doogee DK10

I've had this app installed for about 8 months and it just happened to me too. I can't grant it storage access through android settings either. It's only option is notifications. At first it just wasn't showing the new file I added to its folder, now with a reinstall I can't see any files. I have a Redmi Note 11s.
