In the Readme you state that:

Yet you do not talk about the newer alternatives. What is the current alternative to datadog-connect?

The alternative for not only metrics but also distributed tracing and basically any application-level monitoring is Datadog APM. The JavaScript client is dd-trace-js.

Please have the deprecation notice as well as suggested alternatives clearly mentioned in the official docs and on the connect-datadog npm package page. This will reduce the amounted of wasted time, confusion and will be much appreciated by users.
