There is no README, not a single hint about how to install it.

After I unpacked the folder, I ran /resolvconf.sh, restarted firefox - and still cannot access any OpenNIC domain -
Server not found

Firefox can’t find the server at www.flibusta.lib.

Check the address for typing errors such as ww.example.com instead of www.example.com
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

And the same is for every OpenNIC website

You should manually edit /etc/resolv.conf and add the nameservers that the shell script puts out.
I.e.

  1. Run ./resolvconf.sh
  2. Copy list of nameservers from output
  3. Paste into /etc/resolv.conf
  4. (Optional) Restart your browser

etc/resolv.conf may be regenerated each time the computer starts. I found /etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d/head is a more persistent place to put it. (Ignore the warning at the top that file. It is there so it can be copied into resolv.conf.)
