Could not resolve com.jakewharton.timber:timber:5.0.1.

Currently i am facing a very strange issue like,

My project is giving me error for this
Could not resolve com.jakewharton.timber:timber:5.0.1.

Possible solution:

• Declare repository providing the artifact, see the documentation at https://docs.gradle.org/current/userguide/declaring_repositories.html

Although it works good for 4.7.1

I have a similar issue which might be related:
After updating to Android Studio Bumblebee 2021.1.1 the plant() method can not be resolved with the DebugTree anymore.
I can still build and run the app and the logging works fine.
With a Tree() constructor the error is not shown but DebugTree directly inherit from Tree.

When downgrading to 4.7.1 the warning error goes away.

I'm experiencing this exact issue also. Certainly not a blocking issue, but a peculiar one nonetheless.

I haven't yet had a chance to test with Android Studio Chipmunk (Beta) or Dolphin (Canary) but shall update here if I can get around to testing those.

I've hit the issue with incorrect Lint warning too, but it seems to be unrelated to OP's issue. Reported it to Android Studio bug tracker.
