I started getting the error message

Error: Command \footref already defined

On current arch linux xetex.

I was able to work around by adding

\let\footref\relax

As the first line of the sclttr2.latex file. Put it here to make the solution findable, but not sure if it would be suitable for a PR because I don't know if it might cause problems with other platforms.
