App crashing after updating to 7.7.9 #1269

Brief summary

When starting the app, it immediately crashes when showing the main screen.

Here's a screenshot of the error that is shown briefly:

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open app
  2. Crash

Kotatsu version

7.7.9

Android version

15.0

Device

Google Pixel 6 Pro

Acknowledgements

I have the same issue, I downloaded the app from F-Droid, I think the cause might be an automatic update to version "Version 8.0-a1" which was released on Jan 17, 2025. then it was another automatic update that sealed our fate, this time to 7.7.9 which was added on Jan 28, 2025.

EDIT: using the help of an XPosed module, I forced a "downgrade" to that version, and now it seems to function fine. can't recommend this method tho.

Same issue is occurring for me on a Pixel 9 using 7.7.9 on F-Droid
