Northwest Knowledge Network has downscaled NMME ensemble, that is probably better for a lot of our work. Will need to look into things and it's probably still worth bringing in the 8-day forecasts (GEFS &/or blended CPE) and doing any necessary downscaling.

The weecology/portalcast folks have a function to query the API, but it's embedded in their overall framework -- probably still a useful starting point though. https://www.github.com/weecology/portalcasting
