Disculpen las molestias pero no creo entender la documentación. mktime autocompleta los campos vacíos de la estructura o sirve simplemente como método de validación?

Me surgió una nueva duda sobre la consigna. Si se asume que todas las fechas son correctas, asumimos que ningún mktime nos da -1?
