I'm thinking, if we could feature activities in our Rust Cologne community somehow. Like in a two-monthly newsletter, maybe?

  • What have you been working on in the past two months?
  • Have you written any blog articles about Rust?
  • ...?

We could showcase this a little bit like this-week-in-rust. The difference would be, that we'd have a lower threshold of what's interesting. But on the other hand it will be from people around Cologne, making it easier to connect to people with shared interests.

It's a very rough idea right now.

  • @Rustaceans/organizers-cologne Would you be interested to give this a try for next year?
  • Who would like to take an active role in "implementing" this?

Interesting, I think this might be a good idea. A few notes:

  • I typically don't really care about the location of the people who I work on open source with as I mostly communicate over text (email, github, irc)
  • We have some regulars at our meetups but also a lot of people who only turn up once or once every few months.
  • Would you want to set this up using meetup.com? This'd mean people need to use the site to get the newsletter.
    • We could also publish it on the website as a "news" section and offer a feed for it
  • How would you collect content?
    • Ask people at meetups?
    • Stalk Follow members on social media, incl. Github?
    • Ask people to tweet @RustCologne with their stuff?
