DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 7 Breaks Package Centre View #6337
Comments
@MoisieSyncthing, based on the information provided, this doesn't seem to be an issue we can assist with. Does the problem occur with other packages, including those published by Synology? |
This seems to be an issue of the Synology DSM Update. I have seen other issues in the Package Center. It is even worse. This is a bug in the synology package center and sould be reported upstream. Anyway the packages are still running and working (Sickchill, Syncthing, ) but you can't open the application in the package center detail view (In the Package Center overview the "Open" buttons still work as do the links in the main menu. |
I identified the following packages having this issue on DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 7
The issue occurs in both sections: under "Installed" and under "Community" EDIT: |
Indeed. The affected package has to be the first one selected after opening Package Centre - otherwise it shows some information of the previously selected package.
Not for me - the options in the drop-down menu don't work at all.
Thanks for looking into this! |
HI all, I am the team leader who owns the Package Center. We are already working on fixing this bug, and it is expected to be resolved in the next nano version. |
Hi @gcaaa31928, thank you for reaching out and keeping us informed. It's great to see this matter receiving prompt attention for your customers. |
@gcaaa31928 thank you for taking care of this. |
Just here to confirm that I experience the exact same thing as OP. Looking forward to getting this fixed :) |
Kudos on finding this 🐛 . I've received word from Synology that the missing function has been identified ( SYNO.SDS.htmlEncode ) My ticket (3722978) has been closed in favor of this one. We're looking forward to DSM 7.1.1 Update 8 to remedy the missing function and have Plex up again |
Thanks @gcaaa31928, was just searching to see if others were having this issue and obviously they are. Your prompt response to looking into this has been gratefully received. The NAS we use is the 2415+ |
Same issue on DS414 with update 7 installed |
I have the same issue on DS 1515+ , is there a workaround or a way to go back an update?
|
Hello, same issue for me with a DS415play. @ChuckPa My Plex works for me, even if it is sometimes very slow |
Just adding my voice to the mix; have been experiencing the exact same problem with Package Center on the DS218+ running Plex. Plex is working fine as I've put off any package updates until this issue is fixed. Currently at DSM 7.1, Update 7. |
It's not a plex media server issue it's a download package center issue in my case It's on syncthing

@gcaaa31928, just checking in on this issue. How is the next nano version coming along? |
I opened a thread on the synology forum and also raised a trouble ticket. The estimate currently for the patch is sometime before the end of February... "We plan to release DSM 7.1.1 Nano 8 by the end of February 2025." - maybe @gcaaa31928 can provide more detail though. The forum post is here. |
This turnaround is working perfectly. My 3 machines under update 7 are ops. |
@gcaaa31928 -- do we have a release date for update 8 yet. less than 2 weeks before the end of Feb. Thanks. |
hey @MoisieSyncthing, it looks like DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 8 was released on 2025-02-20 and includes the following fix:
Can you test and confirm that this issue is now resolved for you? |
I can see a bunch of packages in https://archive.synology.com/download/Os/DSM/7.1.1-42962-8 Looks like they were placed there on 7th of Feb. However I've not seen my 1813+ offer the update so far. I can see there is a .pat file in there for the 1813+ But I don't want to install it unless I'm 100 sure its the correct package as I've no idea what the various codes like 'cedarview' refer to. Looks like it's time for another support ticket unless anyone has any ideas? thanks. |
Hey @unclebobuk, usually Synology will roll out updates in cycles over the course of several weeks. If you want to manually update you can. It won't install what is not compatible with your model. Based on our wiki, your DS1813+ is in fact a synology_cedarview_1813+. |
Hi @mreid-tt Thanks for the heads up on this. My unit hadn't picked up an automatic update notification yet, so I've manually installed the new release - and it fixes the issue I was seeing! Thanks all for your prompt and positive resolution on this! |
It didn't fix our issue. Our issue is with Syncthing; specifically, I can't open Syncthing's web page on our Synology DS216j. I manually updated DSM to Update 8. The Package Center information is now properly filled in and allows me to stop/start and uninstall, so that's an improvement for us. After the update our issue wasn't fixed. I'm reluctant to fully uninstall for fear that I won't be able to reinstall and get it running again. So I think I'll wait a while to see if others have better luck. |
@FredH-old please create a new issue for syncthing related problems. |

@Centerbox the fix is now available, we don't need any workaround anymore. |
it seems that for FredH-old it doesen't work. On my side I didn't wait for Update 8 as workaround did the job... sorry for unuseful comment |
Can confirm update 8 fixes the problem described by hgy59
|
No issues on my side since January before small update... Full access to all kind of community repo apps

This seems to be an issue of the Synology DSM Update.
I have seen other issues in the Package Center. I once saw the same ugly values in Syncthing package (What's new in version {0}). But then, after clicking some other packages when I clicked syncthing, it didn't show the syncthing package but information of another package that was shown before. This occurres this for several packages (navidrome, sickchill, Syncthing, ...) but not for all SynoCommunity packages.
It is even worse. When I click (e.g.) the Redis Package, everything shows correctly. Then when I click Sickchill it still shows the redis icon, package name and package description. Under "Other Information", it shows the Developer of Sickchill and the other fields are emty (Publisher, Installed version, ...) When I stop the package on this page it stopps the redis package, ...
This is a bug in the synology package center and sould be reported upstream.
Anyway the packages are still running and working (Sickchill, Syncthing, ) but you can't open the application in the package center detail view (In the Package Center overview the "Open" buttons still work as do the links in the main menu.

It's now working properly. I completely uninstalled from our Synology and reinstalled from scratch. To test it I first closed and reopened the browser. Then I rebooted the PC I was using. syncthing is now working properly for us, although I haven't tried restarting the Synology. |
I have a DS218+ and it's NOT showing any DSM update 8 available?! Can I use the synology_apollolake_218+.pat file from the above mentioned DSM directory to fix the package display issue? |
That's what I did, except for the 216j. |
Not sure what you mean 'except for the 216j' ?? |
My synology model is the 216j, yours is the 218. |
If you don't see the update in the DSM Update page (even when configured to automatically download or notify when updates are available), you can always open the "Release notes" page to find the latest version for your model. This includes a link for manual download. |
Is this a new Bug?
