What is the purpose of _default in queryOption?

I want to know the reason for the existence of _default in query options.

This code is only declared and not modified anywhere else.

Is it left there due to design reasons, or is it a remnant of previously used code that was removed? Does anyone know?

If it should be removed, I would like to create a PR.
