With the arrest of the creator of telegram and them recently complying with US officials to hand over data, what is likely to come of this fork and how secure or not is it still? Does the E2E secret chats use p2p I dunno? What does the security future bring?

I would be interested to hear if the maintainers consider possible the radical limitation of the functionality of Telegram-FOSS to disallow private chats which are not e2e encrypted.

There is no compromise of telegram, read this post from the CEO to clear up any misinformation https://t.me/durov/346

The central problem of Telegram has always been that most of the communication is not e2e encrypted. This is not "misinformation" that Durov can "clear up".

From the start, e2e is optional, not mandatory. This isn't "recent news" per the issue description.

In fact it is common knowledge groups can have content reported and moderated by telegram staff, to combat CSAM groups.
