I am aware of the issue with Theremin requiring a change to max_output_buffer_size to connect to newer versions of mpd, but it also has an issue with connecting to a mpd server that is using the proxy database mode (i.e. satellite server). Ncmpcpp works fine. Theremin continually tries to connect and chokes the server.

The log doesn't give me much just command returned 0 over and over. And continually opening on new ports.

I confirmed theremin connects fine to the "main" mpd instance -- it just doesn't like the database queries being passed using proxy database feature.

This is a great client, and there isn't anything else native and graphical for OS X that I am aware of -- it would be a shame to abandon it if this is an easy fix for a programmer.

I suggest you give Cantata a try. Not entirely native but written in Qt, look pretty good, very complete and actively maintained. Currently it is being rewritten but the old version works very well. A link to the download page is at the bottom of its main page: Cantata.

Haven't heard of that one -- thanks!
