Datapack tag support? (Or config)

Hello! Could tag support be added? As in specify what items can be dyed in a datapack by editing a tag, or perhaps listing items that are able to be dyed through a config?

Since I want to be able to dye leather wolf armor that a mod adds, and I feel like adding explicit support to a single mod is more annoying that just adding the ability for anyone to make their own support.
If you do make this, could you update the mod for 1.20.1?
