Hi. Trilium Notes is meant as a knowledge base. You can create links with The reason why we don't allow I'll try to have a go at embedding videos into text notes as per #1912, allowing local videos and not just remote ones (YouTube), if possible. I would recommend for the time being to upload them into Trilium anyway. This also helps us test how well the application works when the database is big. When we will deliver #1912, you should be able to switch to |

I think there is a way to embed a video as a note, but I don't know how well will it fit your needs. Create a note of "Web View" type, then in the "Owned Attributes" tab add an attribute
Then you can watch the video straight from Trilium. The video will also be listed as a card at the bottom of the parent note, but no thumbnail will appear. Alternatively, you can embed the video files into the Trilium's database as an attachment, then thumbnails will work. Also you can embed the same video in multiple notes without duplicating it. But this will grow the size of your database and the file size of the video will be limited to 250 MB. |

Hello! I've been trying to use Trilium to embed videos I saved from lectures and even some old professors that I would really like to organize in my note taking with thumbnails/cards that Trilium does so well. The issue is I can't seem to figure how to embed local files(like videos, lecture slides) from my computer or nas server onto desktop Trilium to write notes about it and organize without duplicating it into trilium. I really want the card view so I can quickly see visually what was talked about like the chalkboard. What would be the best way to do this? In obsidian which I originally used I used File:. I know that doesn't work here because of security issues but since I don't know much about coding why is that? I just wanted a simple way to drag and drop embed local videos and lecture slides into pages and write notes about them and then see the thumbnails to quickly find them. Any advice on your opinions on the best way you would tackle this would be awesome. Thank you all for maintaining such a awesome note taking app. I also wrote this exact same message in the "issues tab" before I knew there was a "discussions" tab so sorry about that. Hopefully someone can give me some advice thank you!
