Trying to use manual partitioning I encountered several issues:

  1. Using lvm instead of btrfs as filesystem type in gparted results in an error on proceeding (see also on discord https://discord.com/channels/1023243680829681704/1296752082061365288)
  2. After having selected & finished the manual partition layout the automatic "use complete disk" remains selected, but on proceeding the manually selected layout is reported and used.
  3. Trying to use a swap partition results in an error later during the attempt to enable swap.

Is it useful to follow these instructions for getting/providing more detailed information about the problem?

First update: when I added swap by deleting/re-creating sda4 I re-created sda4 wrongly with the type lvm instead of btrfs. I was mislead by the fact that sda4 had type lvm before I deleted it. With sda4 formatted as btrfs in gparted the installation proceeds, but crashes later, when it tries to set up swap.

Second update: re-installing once more with manual partitioning, this time without requesting swap on sda5 but preserving sda5. This installation finishes normally.

Following this time these instructions for the last two attempts, I was able to save the logs. Should I upload them?

Please don't put multiple issues in one. It's impossible to track issues like that.

  1. is tracked here sh: 1: mkfs.: not found when installing over a previously encrypted partition Albius#80
  2. is now tracked here continue automatically after manual partitioning #442
  3. is tracked here: installing with swap partition failed at swapon Albius#77

Sorry for packing several different issues into one topic and in the wrong project. But all occured during my self help for the first initial problem, where nobody offered any help. This is not very convincing for staying with VanillaOS instead of EndlessOS. Sorry.
