Term/concept definitions in this domain tend to vary either without any real authoritative source, or with several conflicting authoritative sources.

For this model, we have used nomenclature currently found in published material within the domain, stating where whenever possible. All re-used domain terminology has been referenced to:

  1. The Glossary of Geology---i.e. Neuendorf KKE, Mehl, Jr. JP, Jackson JA. Glossary of Geology. (Revised) Fifth Ed.; Version 1.9. American Geosciences Institute; 2011.The Global Cryosphere Watch Glossary
  2. The Global Cryosphere Watch Glossary---http://globalcryospherewatch.org/reference/glossary.php

Definitions are as precise as needed to satisfy the logic of the concepts and relations in question. However, it was occasionally pertinent to add or restrict terminology to disambiguate a conceptual entity/term from a similarly named process (i.e. tautolonymy).

As such, those familiar with the domain should find the term's contextualised usage consistent.

Do we/should we make a connection to models and ontology that also use these terms?
