Index query using symbol

First of all thanks very much for this great library! I am almost a complete novice but have some things I would very much like to research and this looks like it can give me the data I need for that so I am jumping in at the deep end

I have a question about the get_index_historical_data method; looking at the documentation it seems that the only accepted argument is a long form index name. Is there any particular reason for that, and if not would you consider making it possible to pass a symbol instead?
