My question

I've stuck back on v19.21.2 for the longest time now because any release afterwards has had a non-functional LowContrastMode and an inconsistent ability to properly recolor the app to the old dark grey. I really want to update, but it's annoying to update, then have to downgrade because the same issues aren't fixed.

Well, it depends if it’s possible.
LowContrastMode broke in 17.39.4+ due to the App having an overhaul (rounded thumbnails & etc.) which unfortunately still couldn’t find the problem to fix it.

I do believe old dark mode (grey) can actually be fixed. I’ll find something that fixes it in the YouTube video player.
