This is what I tried doing with first a very old laptop, and then a newer (old) laptop. The trouble is power failures and these old laptops all have batteries that don't work and then they don't have wake-on-lan which makes it such that one has to manually turn them on after every power failure and it soon becomes a dusty affair.
