symlinks do not work in gh-pages

We had a lot of symlinks for link backwards compatibility on the old website. We should find another way which is nicer with gh-pages (meta redirect maybe?).

Used http refesh meta header in HTML files to get rid of symlinks but this does not preserve full backwards compatibility, it only works for indices.

Maybe we should consider mod_rewrite on apache proxy...
