Cannot customise Associated Products grid

As per above, we are seeing this issue on Magento ver. 1.14.3.3, has anyone else encountered this? Basically the attributes are selectable from the grid (when 'Grid Customization' is clicked), but when saved the changes are not reflected on the grid, and we are seeing this only on the Associated Products tab within a configurable product.
