OpenTelemetry Support #300
Comments
Hi @huewood, it looks like HyperDX supports OpenTelemetry data collection and while the Buildkite Agent supports OpenTelemetry, the buildkite-agent-metrics doesn't support this yet. It sounds like a great idea to have the buildkite-agent-metrics support OpenTelemetry (which in turn would support HyperDX), is this something you would be open to contributing to? |
Thanks for the response @CerealBoy. In regards to contributing this, I wouldn't know where to begin but I could consider it. Not something in the near future though due to my own capacity. Is this something that could be added to the roadmap for development within BuildKite perhaps? |
Hi just jumping in here as a newbie to the project and a colleague of huewood's, it sounds like some work would need to be done building out support for OpenTelemetry and then also an integration to HyperDX? I've not contributed to an open source project before but always fancied doing so, I'd certainly be interested in discussing it further. |
Hey there 👋
Recently, we have consolidated our observability platforms (DataDog & others) into just using HyperDX. This is a newer tool on the market & seems to provide very competitive pricing; so I am expecting it will take a bit of the market share which DataDog has dominance over.
Could there be an investigation into seeing if the Buildkite Agent Metrics can support HyperDX also? None of the current support options work with this unfortunately.
