Early in 2025 we created a new, standalone library called
cdt-identity
. This library contains the code in Cal-ITP Benefits that handled eligibility checks with the CDT Identity Gateway. By abstracting this code into a library, other applications—such as the Digital Disaster Recovery Center—can now use it to deliver the same functionality. This milestone captures the effort to refactor Cal-ITP Benefits to utilizecdt-identity
for eligibility checks as part of the transit benefits enrollment workflow. -

Create a distinct Figma file in the Compiler organization to collect, organize, and manage all components and styles used in the Cal-ITP Benefits application. This file is separate from any and all design files that contain application mockups. Eventually this library may expand to include all component and styles for other Cal-ITP products, such as calitp.prg and the Mobility Marketplace. Part of the abstraction and consolidation of components will involve simplifying and refactoring any existing components.

Cal-ITP Benefits currently enrolls rider debit and credit cards with Littlepay. Agencies in the payment pipeline that expect to go live with contactless payments in 2025 have chosen Enghouse as their fare processor. Thus, the Benefits app will need to support card registration with more than one fare processor in 2025.
