Lightning intros #38
Comments
That was part of the idea of the "what I'm working on", but we should definitely extend it to talk intros. Maybe even each evening after/during dinner, the presenters for the next day get up and pitch. |
If we could video these and get them playing on a loop somewhere off to the side, people could wander over at any time and catch up on what is happening. Items could be added to and removed from the loop throughout the weekend. That would also give us some nice material by the end to edit together and show what was on over the weekend. I don't have the equipment for that at the moment, but I'll start looking into it and see what I can sort out. |
Maybe card holders at the end of each table instead of the notice board.

@garrows keep in mind that the main concept is to use lightning intros to introduce the main talks and workshops, and I think we can safely assume that those people will be ok with doing a quick presentation. Video would obviously be opt-in both for playing at the camp, and separately for use after the camp. Video might also be very handy for helping people figure out who to look for if they are interested in the presentation topics. I think making it easier for shy people to collaborate and get involved is a separate issue, and a valuable one to consider, so I have added that as issue 40. |
Could we have some lightning talks for presenters on the Friday night, as a way to give everyone an easy way to get an overview of all the talks and workshops? Each talk would be a quick blurb about what the talk is about, who it is aimed at, and how much fun it will be.
The talks could be run just before or after the schedule is released, so that everyone can decide what to attend while they watch or while everything is fresh in their mind.
