Only works when the length of the ranges array of /scan topic is 360?

This code seems to work only under the assumption that the length of the ranges array of /scan topic is 360. The length of that array in my turtlebot is variable (usually around 240-260), and has an angle_min of around 0, and angle_max around 2*pi. Is there any way I can use this code for my turtlebot?
