Steps to reproduce

Open an API site page with long index navigation
Select one item in the index navigation
Select another item in the index navigation

OBSERVE

EXPECTED RESULT:
the new item gets highlited immediately and the left border becomes highlighted immediatly

ACTUAL RESULT:
There is a significant delay in the highlighting (in particular the left border)
