Running `make manifest` results in an error #140

Setting up a clean instance of the project, following the instructions in the README, and I ran into this error.

$ make manifest
dbt parse --project-dir=dbt_project --target BRANCH
Usage: dbt parse [OPTIONS]
Try 'dbt parse -h' for help.

Error: Invalid value for '--profiles-dir': Path '/Users/colton/.dbt' does not exist.
make: *** [manifest] Error 2
