❗ MariaDB TIMESTAMP with Kraft 1.x

When running Kraft with MariaDB version 8 or higher, it is important to check the MariaDB configuration if the following config variable is set properly:

If that is not the case, make sure to add the following to the [mysqld] section of the server config, ie. in /etc/my.cnf:

[mysqld]
explicit_defaults_for_timestamp = 0

If that option is not set, the Kraft database code fails silently and results in very strange behaviour.

Thunderbird and AppArmor

Under Ubuntu 24.04 (at least) the AppArmor profile for Thunderbird blocks access to $HOME/.local/kraft. That blocks Thunderbird from reading files there, so sending Kraft documents per email fails with an error message such as "no permission to access file".

To unblock that, the local path needs to be allowed for Thunderbird. To achieve that, just add the line

    @{HOME}/.local/share/kraft/** r,

to the Thunderbird profile at /etc/apparmor.d/local/usr.bin.thunderbird

After restarting apparmor using systemctl restart apparmor or reboot all should be set.

Own Address not Persistent with AppImage

A user reported in #252 that the own identity is not persistent after it was entered at first start of the AppImage.

The workaround to make it last is to create the directory where it is stored manually. That is done firing the console command mkdir -p $HOME/.local/share/kraft once. After that, the address will be saved properly.
