Add a kiosk mode #1306
Comments
Going fullscreen automatically is probably not possible. IIRC, the browser requires user interaction with the page before going fullscreen. For theater mode, the problem is that's considered a "client setting" as in local browser preferences. If we just blindly set it, the setting will persist if the user goes in to other rooms. The additional complexity to account for this is not something I want to take on. What's your use case here? |
that makes sense, unfortunate my usecase is having multiple synchronized viewers watch the same media on different screens without being able to interacts the current need is a bit silly - a minecraft server and players that have the WebDisplays mod (which uses embedded chromium). It lets me put a url on a virtual screen, and using opentogethertube i've been able to make a setup where everyone gets to see about the same thing, just an issue that there needs to be user interaction to have the media take up most of the screen I'll keep looking into it, thank you for your response! |
That's pretty cool! It sounds a lot like you want some kind of "kiosk mode"? Browsers require user interaction to play media with audio. Does embedded chromium relax that restriction? |
ah i forgot about that! it seems that the minecraft mod sets autoplay to on by default here without user interaction, which is why it worked |
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
i want new users joining from a share url to default be fullscreen or at least theatre mode
Describe the solution you'd like
a few options: have url flags like fullscreen=true or have room settings set by owner of room, like “default to fullscreen on join”
