Creating and Uploading ZIP File for a plugin

I do not think this is a bug, but rather something I am doing wrong: I have never been able to use e107's Upload Plugin function to test-upload a ZIP file of my plugins (created by Windows native Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder). It always uploads and dies without any message. When looking to see if anything happened, I do find an old extracted version of the plugin on my server in the /e107_system/b*****4/temp folder, so it looks like a previous upload attempt (that also failed) may be part of the issue?

I know a lot of folks just FTP the extracted files to their server, but I would like to have this working properly, and also have it ready to offer through e107 Plugins at e107.org (which I've never done). Thanks for any help anyone can offer.
