This is not me saying but others (read Sarup and our test subjects) - the labels add to much visual noise as they area bit dark.

Can you possibly experiment with some lighter shade of grey? Just light enough so that the text remains black still. Possibly unfilled but just with gark grey border and getting filled with dark grey when you hover over them? (or any other idea that you have)

I have changes the styles of the tags so that it looks like the following.

And I have changed the style of the badges as well accordingly.
