The production instance is running PostgreSQL 13.15 on db.t3.medium. Support for 13 will be dropped in November 2025 (Django 5.2 - released April 2025).

The production instance is currently running Django version 5.0.
PostgreSQL 16.4 (Ubuntu 16.4-0ubuntu0.24.04.2) is currently running on Miles' local instance without issue (Django 5.1.2).

  • Create new RDS instance running psql 16 engine
  • Switch prod instance connection to this
  • Document recipe for updating the instance
  • Deactivate old instance
