Import / Export XML

Is there a way to have a preview/confirmation screen of the export / import XML function?
In Studio, when you export you can see a list of files names you're going to export.
When you import you get to see file modified dates and select which files you want to import.

I tried to export a single class file, and it decided to export an entire subfolder, (x.y.cls was wanted, x.y.cls and x.y.*.cls was exported. probably a niche naming coincidence).
I tried to import the XML onto another server and it failed.
I tried to import it in Studio and saw all the unneeded files, selected the one I wanted, and imported fine.

I've read the docs and had a further play with the interface, and find it difficult to see the information I want to see before I commit to the import and export. Therefore the same question applies, is there a clearer way to see on any sort of confirmation screen the actions I'm about to commit to. If not, then I think that would be a nice addition. Specifically on importing, to see all the files and their modification dates, in a similar way to studio, rather than having to hover over each file line to see the date details.

Hi @mcwebtree, that information is available. When you run the ObjectScript: Import XML Files... command and choose files, their contents are sent to the server for the purposes of listing the documents in the XML files and their state on the server. You can then choose which documents you want to import. An example of the multi-pick UI menu can be seen here.

Interesting, as that's not how it presented on my machine when I tried it.
I've just tested it, and it's showing that way now for import. The only difference is that I've gone from the marketplace extension to the beta github one for the proposed API. Don't know if that changed anything.
I can see for the import that the information is there, but its still trickier on export when you have a lot of files and schemas to see. as the selected ones can be pages apart.
I think I need to play with it more and see if I get that initial behavior I saw with the data missing.
The dates were compressed to the left of the drop down and only hovering over the truncated few characters showed a popup of the modified dates. If I do I'll get a screenshot to show I'm not going mad.

P.s. Is it possible to get the import tool to default to the last used folder rather than back to the workspace save folder every time?

Hi @mcwebtree, thanks for checking again! There should be no difference between the marketplace version and a beta version for this feature. If you have any suggestions for ways we can improve the UI please let me know! There currently is not a way to "remember" the last used directory for import or export, but that could be a nice small improvement to consider.

I'd still like an export confirmation dialog that just shows the selected files, rather than just having to scroll up and down the list to see which ones have been ticked :) Or the selected files moving to the top of the list maybe. I'll keep playing and see how it goes.
