Central Servers

DRAFT DO NOT PUBLISH

Each Central Server can only list a maximum of 200 servers at any one time.

When you start a public server, you will see a message saying whether your server has been successfully listed or not (Headless server operators: please see note below).

full

If the Central Server is full, please wait until a slot becomes available (your server will keep trying).

US and Non-US Central Servers

As of April 2020, in order to minimise the problem of exceeding the 200 server limit, we have created two Central Servers.

When you start your server, it will attempt to register at the nearest Central Server unless you change it manually (Headless server operators: please see note below).

Similarly, when a Jamulus client starts up, it will by default connect to the nearest Central Server (currently either US or Rest of World) unless that is changed manually.

Headless servers

As of April 2020, you will need to register with the appropriate Central Server manually.

For servers in North America, add this port number to your -e option:

-e jamulus.fischvolk.de:22224

For servers in the rest of the world:

-e jamulus.fischvolk.de

Note also that as of time of writing, you will not see a message in the logs about whether you have successfully connected.
