Misspellings seem to be the #1 issue with maps not displaying correctly

Hi @jsoma,
Thanks for this helpful library!
I'd be happy to take on this issue - what sort of warning do you have in mind?
Would a simple alert() suffice? Perhaps console.log() would be better? Something else?
