Can this be upgraded this to ActiveRecord 4? We would like to use this but it's incompatible

I'm currently not using this so haven't had this use case. It would be nice to provide support for AR4 and AdequateRecord, though haven't had time to do it. If you want, you can send a PR to add support, otherwise I'll try to look at this when I have time.
