Elevate Symbols on fill-extrusion doesn't work with custom source

my symbols will only be elevate on top on fill-extrusion layer when i use the mapbox source. When i use a custom vector-tile source (we are using postgis to create them) the labels are shown at ground level (style is the same). We are using this flag to activate it for symbols "symbol-z-elevate": true,.
Does this function needs some specific requirements for the source? For example the ordering of coordinates?

mapbox-gl-js version: 3.9.4
