A proof-of-concept for plain UDP transport was added and will be released with version 2.6: meshtastic/firmware#5779 This uses Wi-Fi, but I imagine in principle ESP-NOW would also be possible. |

Has anybody yet tried to run the Meshtastic proto stack via ESP-NOW? That could be a nice alternative for more localized meshes plus ESP32 devices could try to route intelligently - if a node is known on ESP-NOW, use that, otherwise use LORA...
