Support for Cost Allocation Rules in Cost Queries #1245
-
Hello, First of all, thank you for this incredible toolkit! It has been immensely helpful and has added so much value to our workflows. I'd like to check with you how to get costs from the Cost Allocation Rules that I have in place. That is, I have cost allocations that the target will be always some tags. For example, I allocate costs from resource groups or subscriptions to specific tags, this is done for splitting shared costs from shared resources. So, when I go to Azure Cost Analysis and try to pick up the costs from a specific tag, it shows the accumulated costs + the costs that were allocated based on the cost allocation rules. However, after exporting FOCUS, I noticed there is a column named CostAllocationRuleName on it. I am also using the CostSummary.storage.pbit report and have configured it to use my current tags (via the 'Tags Example' setting). While this setup retrieves the values for the tags, it does not include the costs that have been allocated based on the allocation rules. My question is: Your guidance on this would be greatly appreciated! Thank you again for this fantastic toolkit and for your support! Best regards, |

We disable cost allocation because of confusion that some people have when they aren't expecting cost data to change. There's a global filter in the Filter pane in each Power BI report that sets this filter. Clear that filter to include Cost Management cost allocation changes. FYI - We cleared this filter in 0.8 reports. |
