We have C versions for Arduino and related ESP8266 but nothing that can make in GCC and run native at a command line.

  • Find & install appropriate compile and debugger (gcc, gd)
  • Write a wrapper like the .ino files at top of arduino and esp8266 directories
  • Check definitions dont use anything Arduino specific
  • Test on OSX and Linux
  • Good luck with Windows :-(
