Cannot Import Power PCB.PcbDoc in Altium CircuitStudio File Corrupt #1
Comments
Not sure about this one. I'll have to look into it tomorrow. I've left my
laptop at work which has Altium on it. Did you mean to say Altium 15.0 or
16.0? I know Altium has some built in exporters now, but I don't think they
go back that far.

Hello,
I'm interested in the project and new to PCB design in general, I wanted
to try and open the design files and poke around but it looks like your
files are from Altium Designer (based on the file extension and embedded
metadata) and I only have a trial version of CircuitStudio available to me.
When I tried to import the necessary files the schematic file came in no
problem but the PCB file says it is corrupt.
So far as I can tell so long as the PCB file from Altium Designer is
version 5.0 or 6.0 this import should work.
Was wondering if you might know how to address this please?

Thanks for the response, you know strangely enough it only offers Altium PCB 5.0 and 6.0 as an option for importing. Googling about this issue brought up a youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YAWBsShCId4 where the guy essentially says Altium seems to be purposely limiting the import abilities to older versions to remove overlap between the two products (great - love when companies do that). Fortunately he also says you can simply re-save the PCB file to a version 5.0 from within Altium Designer to get around this issue and that the new file should just work. |
I thought I had mentioned it here but I guess not; the reason I was trying to load the files is because when I go to OSH Park to try and print the PCB it gave me an error with the drill file but since you've upload the new version I've tried it again and now it gives me errors with the copper layer, mask layer, outline file, and drill file lol Any chance for assistance please? :) |
