I think the band The XX and the designers of this website took a big risk with its layout and, for most the part, it really pays off. The floaty, scroll-responsive photos run the risk of alienating the user but they are more engaging than anything. By pinning the menu, they succeed where I believe a lot of these artsy pages fail. That is to say: the site still functions as a usable hub of information about the band. There are some drawbacks, however. The page takes forever to load (at least it did for me). My biggest issue was that, after I had become comfortable with the layout, when I clicked through to their store, tour, or music, it dragged me out of the site and made me learn an entirely different layout.
