A user reported that Npcap install was hanging at the "Installing NDIS driver" step. Installer logs showed it was stuck in the call to INetCfgClassSetup::Install. The SetupAPI.dev.log file ended just after "dvi: Committing changes to the network graph"
The user's reproduction steps:
Install Hyper-V Services (Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn windows features on or off . Select Hyper-V and all sub-components)
Reboot (if not prompted)
Login and open Hyper-V Manager Console
Select Virtual Switch Manager
Add a new Virtual Switch...Connected to external network > select active Wifi Adapater > Allow management O/S to share the adapter (see attached screenshot)
Press ok
Reboot the device again
Login to Windows
Install NPCAP.
The only other non-Microsoft LWF was ZS_ZAPPRD, the Zscaler LightWeight Filter. We believe there is some corruption within Windows that is causing this hang, but we do not currently know how to diagnose further.
