Will you add Hatari core (Atari ST) to Emu4vita++? #18
Comments
Can you tell me how the new version of the core crashed? Load which rom, speed slowly or just broken, all the detail. |
@noword hi, in the latest version of retroarch Vita the core crashes immediately when loading any game in any format, a generic Vita c1-28 error, in theory I have the correct bios (tos.img) but I'm not sure if they changed any requirement for the core to work but I didn't find the way and with the version I left you in the link above the core runs everything without problems just by having the correct bios present in system. That's all I can tell you. |
Good morning. |
Please test it. |
Hello everyone. |
@noword hi, sorry for the delay in responding and testing, I haven't emulated Atari ST for a while so I'm having some difficulties, at first I only got an automatic error when loading any ROM in any format like says @Vecinagamer, but by adjusting the location of the bios (tos.img) I can run the ROMs however the emu only shows me the Hatari Main Menu, it seems that it requires an extra configuration file, but as previously it didn't require it and the games started directly I'm reviewing the documentation and tutorial on how the core works. As soon as I understand more about how the core currently works and if I manage to play any game I will report back here, in principle the core seems to work, I just need a little more time to properly configure the emu. |
Maybe @jonathanopalise could give a hint how this Hatari emu has to be prepared. Thanks in advance. |
I've been reading the Libretro documentation and in theory the core needs a (hatari.cfg) configuration file. Running the old core that works for me in normal retroarch it seems to create this file in ux0:data/retroarch/system/hatari/ Anyway in retroarch when running any .stx or .st the game starts automatically and the hatari menu only appears when you press start button on PS Vita, in the version that @noword ported to Emu4vita++ when running any game it sends you directly to the Hatari menu and when you click ok or cancel or quit the app automatically crashes, I'm not sure if it's a problem with the core or when adapting it to Emu4vita++, it also doesn't allow loading or saving a new (hatari.cfg) configuration file. The truth is I'm not sure of its correct functioning in Vita, I remember it being simpler or at least that's how it was in the old version of the core that works in normal retroarch on Vita. |
Tell me how you tested it and where you downloaded the required files. |
@noword I can tell you that if you run the core without modifying anything it seems not to recognize the tos.img in system and automatically indicates that it cannot load the game, but if you add the tos.img in the path ux0:data/EMU4VITAPLUS/system/hatari/tos/ as indicated by the core itself and select those bios from the core settings, now the emu starts but in automatic it takes you to the Hatari Main Menu, if you press ok, cancel or quit the core automatically crashes with a 173.. error, unlike when I run the old core that I left you in the link above in normal retroarch when loading a game in .st or .stx format it starts directly and the Hatari Main Menu only appears when you press start. The truth is I'm not sure how the core works currently, maybe someone with more knowledge can explain it to us, I didn't remember it being so complicated. Also what I understand according to libretro documentation is that a configuration file (hatari.cfg) is required and it seems that Emu4vita++ does not create it correctly. I'll link you to the ROMs I tested in .stx format, the tos.img and the log of the error that PS Vita generates. https://mega.nz/file/nsJ3jQwS#3wDbXAAFaDDdlf_kX1JdYKIekujERxZCXdZu6cPpaO4 |
This core could be made to work in Emu4vitaplus, it would be wonderful |
I couldn't really figure out what the problem was when porting this core to Emu4vita++, if you have the correct tos.img and run any game in any format it just sends you to the Hatari Main Menu, in retroarch the games booted directly, it didn't seem to be very complicated. |
Hi again, I just wanted to ask if it's possible to consider adding the Hatari core for Atari ST to Emu4vita++?
I just wanted to mention that the core is broken again in the latest version of retroarch, but there is a working version from two years ago, here's the link. On that occasion, almost the entire catalog ran at full speed.

I'll also leave you the link to the libretro repository.

Thank you very much and best regards.
